It’s amazing how insulting the Flag, National Anthem, and the majority of Americans puts a dent in your bottom line and causes you to reverse your course of political correctness! All of a sudden… NFL owners are reversing course!
These protests have cost the NFL and its teams MILLIONS! Ratings have sunk to all time lows and thus advertising revenue as well. Fans are furious. It looks like they have sent a message to the NFL.
The ratings from “Monday Night Football” have now come in, and one look at them sent NFL decision makers scrambling to backpedal from the national anthem controversy.
According to Deadline, the Vikings-vs-Bears game was an all-season low in television ratings. That was even with a much-hyped “Star Wars” movie trailer being shown at halftime, which no doubt boosted the already dismal numbers.
That comes a day after Sunday Night Football also hit a season low with its ratings down too.
And I am sure the upcoming major one weekend boycott coming helped push things over the edge.
A HUGE Veterans Day NFL Boycott has gone viral and is expected to reach into the millions in solidarity against teams, players, coaches and owners disrespecting the flag during the national anthem.
NFL fans are furious, ratings are down, popularity is down, ticket prices are down, advertisers are bailing, and last week three teams demanded that their players stop the insane disrespect for the flag and the national anthem!
Then NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday wrote a letter to all 32 league owners stating that the protests that have taken place during the national anthem need to stop!
In the letter Goodell wrote that the “current dispute over the National Anthem is threatening to erode the unifying power of our game, and is now dividing us, and our players, from many fans across the country.”
“In the memo sent to NFL teams, Goodell said the league must ‘move past this controversy’ and that this has to be done in collaboration with its players,” the news network stated.
A copy of the letter was published by NBC News, and seemed to show Goodell essentially begging players to stop their kneeling publicity stunts.
Then CNBC reported on Tuesday that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is planning a meeting to change the rules and specifically require players to stand.
In a conference call later on Tuesday, chief NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said owners will allow the players to give their input, but would not need union approval to implement a change forcing players to stop protesting.
‘I don’t believe that the anthem, per se, is something that needs to be collectively bargained,’ Lockhart said.
The owners are scheduled to meet next week in New York.
Lockhart stated that the issue will be “front and center” on the agenda. The Cowboys are on their bye and do not play this weekend so Jones will not have a chance to enforce his policy until after the league’s owners debate whether or not he is allowed to do so.
“I think everyone at this point is frustrated by this situation,” Lockhart said, adding: “The commissioner and the owners do want the players to stand.”
The teeth of the rule change rests with the omission of the stipulation that the disciplinary action will come from the league office. Theoretically, this opens the door for teams punishing players directly.
It is ABOUT time!
These protests have cost the NFL and its teams MILLIONS! Ratings have sunk to all time lows and thus advertising revenue as well. Fans are furious.
It is real simple. Protest on your own time. These lazy 3 minute antics have not been a real protest anyway. These morons don’t have the intestinal fortitude to go out an really protest. They are too busy living their high lifestyle that the millions of dollars they have received while living the American Dream has given them.
There is a major Veterans’ weekend NFL Football Boycott Planned. Click here for details.
We will be not be watching or listening to NFL games on November 12th in solidarity with veterans around the country, as football players have continued to disrespect the national anthem, the American flag, and everything our nation stands for.
What do you think of this CEO pulling ads and sponsorship from the NFL?
