I have long believed that John McCain is a Republican of convenience. He might as well be a Democrat as that is where his sympathies lie. Once again he has proven me right. Last week President Trump moved to rescind DACA – Amnesty for Dreamers… children of illegal immigrants. He sent it back to Congress to be dealt with, which constitutionally was the right thing to do. But I believe he did it so that the RINOs in Congress, including John McCain, will make it permanent. In fact, Trump said if they didn’t, he would ‘revisit’ the issue. That would not be unconstitutional and it indicates to me he wants DACA instituted permanently.
But that didn’t stop John McCain from piling on Trump who he hates even though they ostensibly want the same thing… Amnesty. McCain says it is unconscionable to deport Dreamers. As if that surprises anyone. During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” McCain was asked if he thinks Congress should codify DACA and if he thinks there should be a path to citizenship for DACA recipients. “I think yes and yes,” McCain said. “But I think it ought to be done in a comprehensive fashion.” What the hell does that mean?
“It is not conscionable to tell young people who came here as children that they have to go back to a country that they don’t know,” McCain said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “And, by the way, there’s 900 of these Dreamers that are serving in uniform in the United States military. Now, are we going to go to the young men or women serving in Afghanistan or Iraq today and say, ‘By the way, you’re a Dreamer, get back to fill in the blank’? We’re not going to do that to these young men and women who are serving in uniform.” If a Dreamer is serving in the military, a provision should be made for them to become a citizen… expedite the process, don’t bypass it.
My son-in-law is from Denmark. He is a scientist. It took us years to get him here with background checks and money. When Torbin got here, he was married to an American, my daughter. They had children. He became a teacher at a private school and I’m proud to say he is now a US citizen. Dreamers don’t even bother, just as most illegal aliens don’t. Leftists want them for their votes… big business wants them for cheap labor. You know what is unconscionable? McCain approving of breaking the rule of law and encouraging crime.
There are over 800,000 Dreamers in the US. Yes, their families brought them here, but they need to go home until they cam come here the right way. McCain said that a DACA replacement should be done as part of a more inclusive immigration reform package. “I think it ought to be done in a comprehensive fashion,” McCain said. “A few years ago we passed through the Senate with a vote of 68 votes comprehensive immigration reform — that STEM, science, technology and engineering people, guest workers, a number of other provisions that makes it comprehensive, border security, etc. We need to do that and make that part of the Dreamers part.” No, we need to follow the rule of law, not reward being here illegally.
