I’m sure you know the story by now. Just before Christmas, the Rockettes learned they would be performing at the (Trump) Presidential Inauguration. Phoebe Pearl, the Rockette who spoke out against dancing at the Inauguration, still remains the only Rockette to speak publicly under her real name against our President.
And continues to do so. Hey – how about shut up and do whatever they call whatever it is what they call it that you do. But of course, the ‘dance community’ considers it courage. Funny, the rest of them showed up rather than lose their sweet Rockette gigs.. Oh well. Can’t blame ’em.
In an emotional speech, Pearl said that chose not to perform at the inauguration, and that she was just standing up for human rights. Well…
As a little girl, the thing I desired most was to be a member of the world-famous Rockettes. I looked forward to watching their magnificent kicks and pristine lines in the Thanksgiving Day parade each year and counted down the days until I could audition for their legendary ranks. But alas, I stopped growing before reaching the height requirement enforced by the group known for their nearly identical body types.
As a die-hard fan of the Rockettes, I could not have been more excited when Donald Trump’s transition team announced the ladies would be performing at the president-elect’s historic inauguration ceremony on January 20. However, before long, my hopes were dashed once again.
It appeared the progressive agenda had overtaken a member of the dancing group, who spoke out claiming it was unfair that she was being forced to perform for such a dreadful man.
“I usually don’t use social media to make a political stand but I feel overwhelmed with emotion,” dancer Phoebe Pearl wrote on Instagram. “Finding out that it has been decided for us that Rockettes will be performing at the Presidential inauguration makes me feel embarrassed and disappointed.”
“The women I work with are intelligent and are full of love and the decision of performing for a man that stands for everything we’re against is appalling,” she added. “I am speaking for just myself but please know that after we found out this news, we have been performing with tears in our eyes and heavy hearts #notmypresident.”
Wow. A tad dramatic, don’t you think?
Apparently, I’m not alone in my disgust over Pearl’s stance, because the union leader who represents the Rockettes was quick to put her in her place, issuing a statement which informed dancers they are not allowed to “boycott” the event in any way.
It will still be thrilling to watch the Rockettes perform for Trump’s inauguration. In fact, knowing that one of them is a radical leftist who’s becoming acquainted with karma will only make it all the more satisfying. SHARE this report if you think the union has made the correct decision by silencing Phoebe Pearl and any other entitled dancers who might have followed her lead!
