Charlie Crist Endorses Obama

By  |

Editors Note: Please remember that Charlie Crist wants us to accuse him of being a liberal.  Calling him a liberal will only play into his hand.  He hopes it will divert attention away from his record and his years of calling himself a Conservative.  It’s important to remind people that Crist has made a career out of bashing the Democrat Party and everything President Obama stands for.

“He also wanted to make it clear that backing Obama on one issue doesn’t mean he supports him on everything. ‘I don’t agree with the guy on hardly anything he does,’ Crist said. ‘I mean, what they’re doing with health care right now is unbelievable.’”

–      Brendan Farrington, Associated Press, January 9, 2010

“‘I think Charlie Crist is a conservative and always has been,’ Crist said last week in Panama City. ‘I believe in less taxes, less spending, less government, more freedom. I’m a Reagan Republican.’”

–      Mark Hollis, “RIGHT IS MIGHT IN GOP RACE FOR GOVERNOR,” South Florida Sun-Sentinel, July 17, 2006

“’I think it’s pretty obvious what he’s doing,’ Crist said. “Polling is not good. We’re coming into the end of the election. This is the fourth time he’s run for governor. And so, here we are.”  Crist concluded, “I’m pro-life, I’m pro-gun, I’m pro-family, and I’m pro-business.’”

–      John Kennedy, “Crist, Gallagher square off in free-swinging TV debate,” Orlando Sentinel, August 23, 2006

1 . Crist is a crass political opportunist

Despite the threat Florida is facing from a severe storm, Charlie Crist has demonstrated, yet again, that his political ambition will always come before the needs of Floridians.

From his A+ rating from the NRA to abortion to same-sex marriage to civil unions to ObamaCare, Charlie Crist opposes President Obama on every one of the president’s core issues.

Crist said he doesn’t agree with President Obama on hardly anything he does and Crist has spent his entire political career bashing the agenda Barack Obama advances.

The only thing they have in common is that President Obama killed our national economy and Crist killed Florida’s economy.

In his time as Governor, Charlie Crist had unemployment increases in Florida greater than any other state except ONE – Florida’s unemployment skyrocketed from 3.5% to 11.1%

2 .  Crist has made a career of bashing Democrats and what they stand  for

On abortion, Crist’s position only makes an exception for the life of the mother, going further than Mitt Romney, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

Crist “Cheerfully Signed” the Christian Coalition Petition Calling for a State Constitutional Amendment Banning Gay Marriage and Civil Unions.

Crist Sent a Letter to a Democrat Congressman Urging Him to Vote Against ObamaCare.

Crist didn’t leave the Republican Party in 2010 because he disagreed with the party’s beliefs and positions or suddenly became an Obama suppoter; he left because polls showed he had a better chance to win the Senate seat as an Independent.

And just think if we had listened to the GOP establishment he would be senator now instead of Rubio:

As Republicans gather in Tampa to nominate Mitt Romney, Americans can expect to hear tales of how President Obama has failed to work with their party or turn the economy around.

They’re tales I tell you Tales! All is well.

But an element of their party has pitched so far to the extreme right on issues important to women, immigrants, seniors and students that they’ve proven incapable of governing for the people.

and the GOP embraced that element by nominating…Mitt Romney!.

Look no further than the inclusion of the Akin amendment in the Republican Party platform, which bans abortion, even for rape victims.

Which never bothered me during all the years I was in the GOP until just now of course.

The truth is that the party has failed to demonstrate the kind of leadership or seriousness voters deserve.

They failed to elect me! I was leadership the voters deserved DAMN IT!!

I seem to recall the Morning Joe crowd fawning all over ole Charlie and the NRSC endorsing him. GOP donors sunk millions into his coffers. What did Stacy McCain say about that?

It was my friend Jimmie Bise Jr. who pointed this out in September 2009: During a single three-month span of that year, Republicans contributed $4.3 million to the doomed campaign of Charlie Crist.

How’s that workin’ out for ya?

Jimmie has calculated — and I agree with his calculations — that you could run a pretty spiffy little conservative New Media operation for $500,000 a year if you knew what you were doing. But the problem is connecting (a) people with $500,000 to (b) people who know what they’re doing in terms of online news.

If we had listened to this crowd Charlie Crist would have been Barack Obama’s Goto republican in the senate. The “goto” Republican on every MSM TV show when they needed to paint the party as the problem in DC, he would have been the Arlen Specter of the south, the “goto” republican who could be counted on to appear on any network to hit the party until Pat Toomey beat him.

If you want to know why we need to primary guys like this, even if it occasionally costs us a seat, this is it.

As for Crist himself. Democrats backed him over their own candidate in a last ditch bid to stop Marco Rubio and like the useful idiot he is, Charlie is paying them back in the only coin he has left. He will get one more round on the Morning Talk shows before he fades, only to be pulled out when they need an “ex-republican” on a panel with an occasional appearance on liberal talk radio.

Note to NRSC and GOP establishment: Charlie Crist is your Solyndra, you were picking winners and losers a year before the primary and this is what your $4.3 million dollar investment got you.

If you are a conservative and would like to make an investment with more bang for your buck, might I suggest an alternative….

Update: Glenn Reminds reminds us Crist predicted a huge loss for Obama when still in the GOP primary I guess this endorsement is his way of proving himself right.

Update 2: If the left is actually thinking Crist might bring them votes in Florida, think again:

Crist represents no constituency other than himself.

In the 2010 Senate election, Crist ran as a sore-loser independent after it became obvious Rubio would win the GOP nomination. Exit polls showed that not only did Rubio overwhelmingly with the Republican vote (87% to 12% for Crist), but Rubio also won among independent voters (51% to 38%). Charlie is an “independent” who doesn’t appeal to independents, and actually got most of his votes from Democrats.

Think Jon Huntsman in NH without the daughters.

Update 3: Stacy links back and Legal Insurrection notes we should think

And as you read it, give another round of thanks to the Not One Red Cent group which back in May 2009, when the Republican establishment in the form of the NRSC was backing Crist, fought to get Marco Rubio attention and support.

Never forget if it wasn’t for the Not One Red Cent/grassroots crowd instead of a young dynamic Latino man who was in contention for the VP spot on the ticket you would have a member of the ScozzafavaHuntsmanCrist caucus.
