Twelve Yr-Old Ventriloquist Is No Dummy! Wins America’s Got Talent and $1 Million Prize [VIDEO]

During a two-hour mega-show full of stars, America’s Got Talent crowned their 12th season champion and she’s a wonder. Darci Lynne is all of 12 years-old. She’s a young ventriloquist who can sing in multiple voices. She won the $1 million prize and she will now headline her own Las Vegas show.

Her winning number was The Beatles’ hit With A Little Help From My Friends, with two different dummies. Darci has been a favorite since she first appeared on the show and no one is really surprised that she won… except maybe her. She’s a delightful girl full of life and happiness… I am thrilled that she won and deservedly so.

Darci was a favorite of the judges from the get go. And she is passionate about ventriloquism. She beat out deaf singer Mandy Harvey, dog act Sara & Hero, light-up dancers Light Balance and 10 year-old singer Angelica Hale, who all finished in the top five behind Darci. Singer Angelica had been named as Darci’s main competition, after the tweens both earned standing ovations with their performances on Tuesday night. Angelica hugged Darci and congratulated her. It was a wonderful moment… both good and sad.

The season finale featured performances by Kelly Clarkson, Shania Twain and British singer James Arthur. The top ten acts all performed on Tuesday for the highly-rated NBC talent show. They all had to wait an agonizing 24-hours before the winner of the contest was finally revealed in front of a live studio audience. Third place was awarded to the Ukrainian dance crew Light Balance. Fourth place was deaf singer Mandy, 29, while fifth place went to Canadian dog-trainer Sara, 22, and her acrobatic pup Hero.

Tyra Banks narrowed the field to five. And in the end it was Darci Lynne who was crowned the winner, followed by Angelica Hale.

The remaining finalists who did not make the top five were singer/songwriter Chase Goehring, dance group Diavolo, comedian Preacher Lawson, plane crash survivor and singer Kechi, and young singer Evie Clair, who lost her father to cancer earlier this month. There were 52 million public votes… the biggest vote in AGT history. Kelly Clarkson kicked off the entertainment with a performance of What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger) with Kechi Okwuchi and Angelica. Kelly gave her advice to the finalists: “It’s all about getting on TV… even if you don’t win, you’re still on the show the same amount of time as everyone else.”

Darci got to meet with one of the world’s greatest ventriloquists, Jeff Dunham. “I’m so proud of you, everything you’ve been doing,” he told the twelve year-old Oklahoma-resident. Dunham’s pedantic dummy noted that America’s Got Talent “isn’t even proper English.” It was a fantastic beginning to Darci’s career. I predict she will be a favorite in Vegas for some time to come.
