Audio: Howard Stern says “I will never vote Democrat again, they are Communists.”

By  |

Sirius Satellite Radio host Howard Stern supports the merger of his network with XM Satelitte Radio and is fuming at Democratic opposition on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) panel.

After FCC commissioners announced they have reached a deal to approve the merger of Sirius (NASDAQ:SIRI) and XM (NASDAQ:XMSR), Stern ranted about Democrats’ ‘gangsterism’ and ‘communism’ and the obstacles to the merger.

Stern described a phone conversation he had with his agent, who he described as a “liberal Democrat kind of guy.”

“I go, ‘That’s it!’” Stern said. “[I] go, ‘You know what Don, I’ve voted Republican and I’ve voted Democrat. I have vowed I will never vote for a Democrat again. I don’t give a [expletive] – no matter who they are. I don’t care if God becomes a Democrat.’ I said, ‘I backed Hillary Clinton, I backed Al Gore, I backed John Kerry. I am done with them.’”

Stern took it a step even further and called Democrats on the FCC “communists” and referred to their tactics as “gangsterism.”

“The fact that these Democrats on the FCC are communists,” Stern said. “They’re for communism. They don’t want to see companies – this is gangsterism. I said, ‘This is crazy.’”

The FCC commission is a five-member panel made up of three Republicans and two Democrats. The Democrats include Jonathan Adelstein and Michael Copps. The Republicans include FCC Chairman Kevin Martin, Robert McDowell and Deborah Taylor Tate. Tate had been the swing vote on the proposed merger and on July 24 The Wall Street Journal reported she would vote in favor of the merger.

I’ll never understand why being filthy rich is all of a sudden something bad. Good for Him! I don’t think anyone just made Him filthy rich. I do believe He worked and made Himself filthy rich. I’m all for having as many filthy Rich people as possible. Anyone that can work hard and become filthy rich is someone I admire.

Just another reason to never vote for a demoPUKE again. It is the demoPUKEs that have a problem with people making money (unless it is them). He is absolutely correct that the demoPUKE Party has devolved into the Communist Party of the U.S. and anyone that supports the demoPUKES is either clueless or a socialist/communist bastard.

Do you see Obama, Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry or any other rich Democrat giving away their wealth? No. Because all this hatred of rich people is just a ploy to get envious people like you to vote for them, when they promise to take it away & give it to you. In reality, all they want is more money for their own corruption. You don’t matter a hill of beans to them.

Although, the fact that someone’s become wealthy as a result of working is a bad thing to you, doesn’t surprise me. I’ve come to expect that from Democrats now.

Seems most of us were dumb when we were young and thought the democratic party was the party for the regular working guy. I too changed parties later when it seemed the democrats were for big government control. I don’t need a babysitter telling me how to live.

I often wonder that, as well. Democrats don’t care about anything but themselves and it takes government directly making rulings on them, specifically, to get it. I wonder how many have been personally affected by Obamacare? When will they all realize that the right is not a bunch of racist, women-hating loons? Wait, I guess I already answered that question for myself. They will only realize when their freedom and pocketbook is directly affected.

Not only that, think about the cities and stated decimated by Democrats and Republicans having to come in and save them. Did you ever travel to New York City before Rudy G was mayor. It was terrible! Sad thing is that after the Republicans save the day, the voters forget and elect a Democrat. I just don’t get it. NYC will need to be saved again after the current mayor gets done with it.

        • John Smith

          Feb 21, 2014 at 10:15 pm

            Feb 21, 2014 at 10:42 pm

The problem is that at least with them contained in NYC, the plague is localized. Look what happened to New Orleans, Detroit, LA, etc. They effed up their own home, didn’t like what they built, so they moved elsewhere where they are destroying that too. Look at Colorado that used to be pretty conservative. Most of the transplants in are from Cali and live up in Boulder and Denver. They are like a roving bunch of locust, destroying wherever they land then moving on to leave the area in destruction while they look for new fertile ground to eff up. They never learn.

You’re right about that, Bluwater. A lot of them left California for Texas as well and now they’re trying to turn it blue. Same thing happened to Oregon. It’s like a cancer that feeds on its host.

No its not Blu, I am from Upstate NY and what happens in NYC directly affects the rest of the state because everything from upstate ends up in NYC. Trust me on this one. One of the many reason I left that hell hole of a state.

Emily, I’ve been personally affected. I can finally buy health insurance. Prior to Obamacare I could not. I can now work on my own, rather than be confined to employment with a firm that provides insurance. That’s a huge deal.
It is by far the best this country could have done, but it’s currently the ONLY policy that anyone in gov’t has put forth that solved this problem for myself, and millions of others.

Oh, I guess I’m supposed to sign up for one of them plans that helps me pay with subsidies… where do you think them subsidies come from?… People who are forced to pay tripple for their insurance! I hope you are happy stealing from those who are just able to get by… get it? Probubly not. as you said… You got insurance!

My first time commenting here. Not a troll. I’m been writing software for 30 years, and code that I’ve written has likely been of use to you. I’ve been, and continue to be, paid very well for my work. One person in my family has a pre-existing condition – not a disease – just an issue that is seen as a potential problem. In 1999 I chose to become an independent consultant. It was at that time that I learned I was unable to purchase insurance unless we chose not to have coverage for that family member. No company would insure us. What would you have done?
I’m not happy with the way this country chose to deal with this problem. Not a whole lot of critical thinking went into finding a solution. I am, however, happy that at least for me and my family, there is now an opportunity to move forward.

I understand. I also agree with you completely that Obamacare was not thought out. It wasn’t meant to be thought out. It was a government power grab. More government controlling the population. I appreciate your story and understand. Nobody here would have done different.

I disagree wholeheartedly Chris … My mom lives with us … she has several severe medical problems … her insurance alone costs me about 1000 a month and I pay that gladly so she doesn’t have to go without or suffer through the obamacare experience. I also pay for a plan for my wife, 3 of our 5 kids and myself. of the 3 kids 2 are girls ages 19 and 20 … my wife is 45 … needless to say … THAT plan is ANOTHER 1200 a month … which i gladly pay so THEY don’t have to go through the obamacare experience too. I WILL pay whatever i have to to keep my family off the obama train. NO government subsidies … NO government handouts … NO obamacare in this house … PERIOD!

You are completely full of sheayat! If you’ve been writing code for 30 years then you were well enough paid to get insurance for your family, save but a couple of riders on that one family member you say you have. Or you could have chosen to go just about anywhere in the field and get it paid for. Don’t tell me you had no choices.

Plus, even if what you wrote is accurate, then you are a selfish wanker. Millions of people will pay more, many millions have been cancelled or will be cancelled, and the whole system is one big friggin disaster… but you have your insurance. How sweet!

Sorry pumpkin, but by your own admission, you’ve been doing okay since 1999, 15 years and you continued to stay right where you are. Your choice bub, and now you think that everyone else should pay the consequences even though you’ve seen fit to live by your decision for 1.5 decades. By what right do you make your claim to someone else’s property because of decisions you made and have been satisfied for all these years?

Ok Eddie … you CHOSE to become an independent contractor MILLIONS of American citizens DIDN’T choose to become uninsured. I am an independent contractor too … so I have a pretty good idea of what you make per year … and that Eddie is a HELL of a lot more than most of the people that are losing the plans they have had for years and years. Even IF you weren’t insurable because of your family member (which i don’t believe since there are plans out there for high risk people) you still had butt loads of money per year in income … so you could have afforded out of pocket expenses a hell of a lot more than the 30k and 40k employees that lost their insurance. So PLEASE Eddie … take your sob story and your crowing over the insurance you now have somewhere else …. i really don’t think you will find sympathy or a pat on the back here. (just judging by the responses that have been left for you so far)

You’re an idiot. First of all, just because Eddie is an independent contractor does mean you automatically know how much money he makes. Second, unless you have a sick family member, you have no clue what you’re talking about. And finally third, hospitalization can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. So much more than what most average contractors make. Try to learn some facts before you spew garbage.

              Feb 21, 2014 at 11:21 pm

The problem could have been fixed by making it against the law for insurance companies to discriminate against sick people or age (newborn or older individuals) and benefits couldn’t be capped. Simple solution. You would have had insurance if you chose to, most people would if they could. Instead, we have this monstrosity that is unworkable, expensive and a drain on taxpayers that some of Obama’s biggest supporters, like the CEO of United Healthcare (member of the $500,000 donation club) had a hand in creating that has nothing to do with healthcare and everything to do with profit and government control. All that said, you have yourself away as a Dem when you said “move forward”. But, hey, it’s working for this one person in 30 million.

You’re stories not consistent, Eddie. On one hand you said you could finally get insurance for the first time and on the other you said you’d worked for a good company and had insurance. On one hand you said you thought it was the best solution we could hope for and on the other hand you’re now saying you’re not happy with the choice this country made to deal with the problem. I went out on my own at one point as well fully aware that my pre-existing condition would be an issue. I was able to get insurance but it wasn’t cheap. However, it never dawned on me that someone else should or would have to pay for it. It was my choice and my decision. I’m happy you and your family can now move forward but their are a lot of other families paying the price for it.

There were plenty of solutions on the table. Unfortunately only one party wanted a solution that involved increasing the size of federal government in hopes of increasing the union thug power. The other party had plenty of solutions that simply needed to be implemented.

Now that O and MO want you to buy it, you’re all up waving your hands. And “confined” to your employment? If you were, indeed, confined, then according to your own words, YOU. WERE.. INSURED. Let’s try again Ray. I worked for a huge software company. A great company. Still is. They treated me well. We were fully covered. However, in 1999, when I chose to leave that company and work for myself, I learned about the whole pre-existing condition problem that I had never known about. Never considered it for a moment. I had gotten quotes prior to that adventure, but once I left work and we applied, we found out that one family member could not be covered. It was that simple.
That meant, I had to go back to work for an employer. Which I did. I was not free to start my own business. That’s the key issue. Again – I was not free to start my own business. It seems you don’t either don’t believe that this happens, or you don’t want to. Go to Wikipedia, or any other source of your choice, and read about pre-existing conditions. Over the years, the use of them has increased. Insurance companies prosper, and we lose life options. The trend was increasing. With Obamacare, It has now stopped. It’s over. I am now preparing for a life where I am in business for myself. I’ve waited 15 years. I’m nearly 60, but it’s still my goal. My family is happy,

I had to wait the obligatory amount of time with the insurance THAT I PURCHASED and once I was there for the proper amount of time, I was covered. I’m 55, Eddie, I made a choice and went for it. You lacked the testicular fortitude, ambition and lacked confidence in yourself. While I truly wish you the best in your own business, to suggest that Obamacare made this happen is beyond laughable. You talk, too, about insurance companies “prospering” – what is the goal for your business? It’s not an open ended question and I’ll leave at that.

“testicular fortitude, ambition and lacked confidence”?

No Ray, I chose to find employment with a firm that offered me the best possible insurance coverage so that my family member in need had as little as possible to worry about. I chose that over having her go uninsured. That was my priority. I’m a senior software engineer and can work virtually anywhere I choose. And now, I can work for myself. I’m moving forward with a comparable Aetna plan. Very expensive, but she’s fully covered. We all are.
Waiting 15 years for this opportunity shows a fairly decent amount of unselfish testicular fortitude, in my book. I’m proud of how we handled this situation. I just wish we hadn’t had to.

Eddie, you are quite determined to stick to your story – too bad those of us with pre-existing conditions know how it works. Your p/e condition was not covered for a specified period of time and then it was covered. You also could have paid COBRA insurance from your job for that specified time period without interruption of coverage for your “family member” who doesn’t really have a chronic illness but “has a pre-existing condition – not a disease – just an issue that is seen as a potential problem”. Such crap! See, when politicians don’t live in the real world, they can’t fabricate “true” stories that work. And Eddie, I have leukemia, live in the real world and my husband had to come out of retirement and go back to work because we couldn’t afford the new “affordable” premiums, co-pays and out of pocket expenses of over $25,000 a year. I’m seven years younger than his 62. He will have to work well past what we planned just to take care of my insurance costs (not medical care) when we could be spending the time I have left together. But, hey, you’re proud and happy, right?

Ray, agree with your comments. Eddie could have gotten coverage. What I hear from him is just pure laziness. He didn’t do his homework on checking out insurance. Otherwise he would have been able through several different sources. Typically whatever industry you are in has trade groups or some kind of group that looks out for your industry and this includes the insurance and other legal issues. Saying he couldn’t find insurance to provide coverage is basically admitting he didn’t bother to look. He is a typical liberal looking for free handouts and the easy way out.

Absolutely correct! “Eddie” has a story that was scripted by White House talking points. In Eddie’s first explanation, he hadn’t invented the idea that he had to go back to work. But that sounded hokey how he’d managed to be on his own for 15 years, so now he filled in the blank.

And ol Eddie just didn’t give another thought to the idea that millions of people will pay a lot more, millions more got or will be cancelled, but he’s got his dream… [cue the violins and flutes as Eddie fades into the sunset and his family is finally happy] Gag!

It’s also the GOP talking points, if you haven’t noticed. They’re also, finally, on board with protecting against what I dealt with. So, deny my little story if you feel comfortable doing that. Or, you can do spend 5 minutes searching the internet to find the same types of stories written by regular people who could afford, but couldn’t buy insurance. I don’t need to spend time here writing talking points. I’m not selling anything. You’re honestly deriding me for wanting to work for myself? That’s something that we can suddenly demonize? It shouldn’t be.

                Feb 22, 2014 at 11:20 am

We are once again seeing the lies, deception and fraud cloaked in obamacare. Those people who are touting how great the “pre-existing” waiver is, and how great health insurance (not care, but insurance ) is, are now learning that it’s more ‘fair’ to some than others. Thinking it’s great that the government decides who/what gets treatment and who/what doesn’t will work out really well. What gullible sheep – being lead to slaughter. But as long as some of you “get yours” is all that matters.

One of the key selling points of Obamacare was that folks who had pre-existing conditions could get coverage and not have to worry about sky-high premiums. Seems that was a lie, too. Under the law’s “closed drug formulary,” people whose medication isn’t on the government’s list- say for treatment of lupus or multiple sclerosis — will have to pay a lot more:

“Dr. Scott Gottlieb of the American Enterprise Institute explains, ‘if the medicine that you need isn’t on that list, it’s not covered at all. You have to pay completely out of pocket to get that medicine, and the money you spend doesn’t count against your deductible,
and it doesn’t count against your out of pocket limits, so you’re basically on your own.'”

You nailed it Ray. Sounds oddly familiar to nancypee’s statement: May I present to you Exhibit 1 – “Think of an economy where people could be an artist or a photographer or a writer without worrying about keeping their day job in order to have health insurance.” May I present Exhibit 2 – from our new little friend “Eddie” in his own words:
“I can finally buy health insurance. Prior to Obamacare I could not. I
can now work on my own, rather than be confined to employment with a
firm that provides insurance. That’s a huge deal.”
Perhaps our little friend Eddie does have a skill that contributes to society. Or maybe not. The bottom line is millions of American’s have been $crewed by the FIAT of obamacare. As long as we have our little Eddie’s of the world, “who get THEIRS”, regardless of how the end justifies the means, we will continue to spiral out of fiscal control into the dark depressing abyss of fascism.
The following article is an excellent read on the negative effects of ‘o’doesnt’care:

Are you kidding??? More RED states are dependent on welfare than blue states. Most Republicans are either rich and trying to keep the “status quo” so that they can use the “loopholes” or they are uneducated, ignorant religious folks who don’t don’t any better.

Shows who you really are, “guest” – most likely a troll whose only objective is to badmouth the right, Republicans, and any people of faith. Rich? How about Soros, Gates, Leno & Letterman, Buffett? … oh, wait, they are ALL democrats. Hollywood types making millions per picture? Oh, bummer – Democrats again. Concerned more about their money than the little people, but always making noises like they are – they are statistically NON-GIVERS TO CHARITY, or sadly lacking therein. Democrats are Marxists. They just play it off like they want to help the poor but their policies create more poor people. Socialists countries expand poor people in the same exact ways. They need people dependent on government, otherwise they would not be needed.

Democrats believe that the taxes they pay is giving to charity and that’s enough. When they feel like giving more to charity they call for tax increases.

Conservatives believe in wealth transfer programs as well, such as free markets, which is why 95% of our hard-earned wealth goes from those doing the work to the idle ultra rich every year. Being conservative means freaking out that 95% isn’t enough.

Poor Deb – – darlin, all your talking points are straight from the DNC playbook. We’ve heard them all before, right down to the exact language that started with the White House and is simply repeated verbatim, ad nauseum. Those “loopholes” are called business deductions and apply to all businesses regardless of size. They call mortgage deduction a loophole so you buy into that, yet if you happen to have enough credit to buy a house, you’ll take yours too. Have your liberal overseers ever said anything that you didn’t just immediately nod your head in obedient agreement?

It’s actually a documented fact sweetie, Republicans do give more to charities. Look it up before you make a bigger idiot of yourself. Even liberals admit it, though they try to excuse it. And darlin, I’ll match my education with yours any day. From your writing style, I’d have to guess you dropped out at about your junior year in HS.

I don’t see that you’ve provided ANY “documented facts” in your rant, just Republican “talking points” (parroting your words). And, “darlin”, I am most likely far more educated than you. I wouldn’t be caught dead believing anything coming from FOX NEWS which is financed by Koch money.

Charles Koch financed much of the old John Birch Society formed in 1958 by conservatives who share the same “values” (and Koch backed money) as the Tea Party. You may want to look up the John Birch Society and educate yourself as to why it died out in the late 1990s, early 2000s. Unfortunately, history does repeat itself. Too many people just never learn from their mistakes.

LOL… Actually, I could be far more condescending but decided to cut your liberal sorry self a break, as I generally don’t pick on the ignorant sheep whose idea of intelligent thought and dialogue is to do a data dump of DNC talking points into their tiny little minds and spit them out on command like pea-brained parrots.

As for your constant finger-gnawing focus on Fox News sweetie. please take your whining tired diatribe elsewhere. I don’t even have television service, having cut it off well over two years ago in order to avoid the onslaught of daily pablum that you find so endearing. But it shows a special kind of hubris to assume such on your part, presuming that is the only source of thoughtful reason must come from a television.

One should talk however, since not only the exact same words and phraseology you use are emblematic of White House staff/Media Matters/MSNBC constructs, but the lack of reasoning supporting it. If Jay Carney and Rachel Maddow had a mockingbird offspring, you would be it.

My sources and impetus for thought are exclusively online and through much research and reading from historical and timeline contextual writings and news organizations that run the gamut from the WSJ and NYT to a wide variety of European and Asian news sources. That not to mention readings of writers from Lenin and Mao to Thomas Sowell, ancient philosophers and kings and emperors, to more authors than you can probably name without consulting a list somewhere, if you could even pronounce the names.

It just busts your hiney to think that anyone could look at your rationale and opinions and call them for the level of stupidity and pompous arrogance that inspires braindead-twits like you to bedwet yourself and repeatedly babble “Koch Bros” like a broken record every time you hear a conservative talk. You’re old, tiresome, boring, and predictable. Had you not been spoon-fed the phraseology of “Fox News” and “Koch Bros” by your handlers you’d be mumbling to yourself in a corner hoping that someone could give you a reason to understand why you absorb whatever tripe your puppeteers feed you. Go back and take another drink muffin, and take a long hard look in the mirror, because you aren’t just clueless, you’re an idiot.

And in the predictable event that you’ll pull out your next line of stupid associations, nah… I got nothing with Romney, Rove, Hannity, OReilly, or whatever. They are twits of a slightly color feather as you are and you are all as stupid and predictable as a bag of hammers. I’m an anarchist and don’t have time for any of you. And now pumpkin, I’m done with boring losers for the day and I know I’ve given you enough big words to keep you busy looking them up for a couple of days. Come back when you can be original, okay pumpkin?

You can’t “guarantee” me anything. I’ve done my RESEARCH as well and will never agree with your opinions. “Jessi” posted a link to a site stating that Republicans donate more money to charity. I clicked on it and found evidence to the contrary. Conservatives mostly contribute to their churches. Most of the money goes to the church rather than the needy people in which the money was intended. It’s all a scam. The churches use the money to further their agenda of recruiting more people (and the pastors living high on the hog) rather than helping others. These same churches also are tax except. Give me a break! Private charities definitely give more to the needy.

Give up, Deb. The majority of people on this thread are ignorant bubble dwellers. The facts bear it out – the Republican party is a disaster on many levels. Dems will hold the WH for many years to come. That just gets them so angry that they’ll lie and say anything to make themselves feel good.

I think the following excerpt from an article sums it up perfectly. We
Conservatives choose to donate our own money while liberals want to
forcefully take others money and generously “give” our money to others.

“The left wants government to take money from citizens and redistribute
the funds to the needy. This constitutes state-sanctioned theft to many
on the right who are willing to give on their own and on their own
                terms.

Conservatives don’t want to support a bloated government’s
view of charity, where funds purportedly for a worthy cause are wasted
by bureaucrats, and the money that does make it to its intended
destination is often squandered by recipients gaming the system.

                The
right as a whole understands that forced giving is not giving at all.
Additionally, private charities are far more effective at getting
assistance to those with the most need.

It all goes back to the
most critical difference of opinion between the political left and
right. Liberals believe government is the answer, while conservatives
think “We the People”, individuals dedicated to creating a better nation
for all, hold the real key to societal improvement.”

I agree that there is waste by bureaucrats which needs to be addressed. There is also much waste in private charities. Nothing new there. Unfortunately there are always going to be people (dems and repubs) who game the system. We “the people” need to have better laws and accountability. Your “we the people”, individuals dedicated to creating a better nation for for all, hold the real key to societal improvement” is actually what we liberals/democrats want as well. We need “big government” because there are not enough giving, kind people willing to help the sick, elderly, mentally ill, disabled. The reason unions were formed was to protect the workers’ rights to be paid a decent living. We cannot rely on big business do the right thing. While the CEOs and executives are making more and more money they are laying off the workers and piling more responsibility on the “lucky” employees who must do double the work with increasingly less pay.

Thank you deb for replying in a civil tone. One thing I don’t get is why you, and similar like-minded people, have to resort to being condescending and rude when stating your opinion. I mean, really, was this: “..sic.. the other “Republicans”…the ignorant sheep religious people or the uneducated watch Fox News and don’t have a clue!”, really necessary? I happen to be a Christian Conservative, with a college education, who has been very successful in the same career field for 27 years making a very comfortable 6-figure salary. And yes, I watch Fox News (and The Blaze). You don’t know me or know anything about me, yet because I, and others like me, have a different thought than you the incivility abounds. But you see, there were points I made in my respectful reply to you that obviously we agree on. Unless, or until, people stop with the personal attacks nothing is going to be resolved. Further more, I agree that we as a society need to assist the elderly, mentally ill and legitimately sick/disabled. But I also believe that we need to massively cut back on many of the “social welfare” programs. We, as a Nation, need to stop the fraud, waste and abuse of the generational entitlement minded sect. There should be zero expectation that the government will support you from womb to tomb simply because you don’t want to work and/or feel you are “entitled” to ________. If, and it’s a big if, those who ARE gaming the system were removed from the government dole, then the government would have more than enough money to provide for the truly needy and deserving. So I absolutely stand by my “We the People” for smaller government philosophy. I will continue to generously “give” to the various groups and organizations that I “choose” to support ~ just as I will continue to oppose “big government’s” efforts to redistribute the wealth of the “makers” to the “takers” via forced taxation. I believe giving someone a ‘hand up’ has far better results than giving ‘hand-outs’. I’ll save the discussion regarding unions and capitalism for another day as it appears we are light years apart.

hmmm … lets see guest …let’s look at obamas profile … when he got elected he was worth about 1 million dollars … now his and michelles net worth is well over 12 million … AND CLIMBING. Lets look at bloomberg … multi-billionaire … soros … multi-billionaire … gates … multi-billionaire … zuckerberg … multi-billionaire … clooney, damon, paltrow, etc etc etc in hollywood … multi-millionaires. I could go on and on about the elitist rich on the left … if you want. Now lets look at red states vs. blue states … definitely more money in blue states true … most red states are agriculture based … most farmers and ranchers don’t make millions per year like bloomberg of soros. HOWEVER … I would like you to prove your welfare point to me since california is a blue state and the most populated state in the republic and over half the state is on welfare of some sort. Same with new york state … the 3rd most populated state in the republic … over 50% welfare supported in some fashion or another. Let’s go ahead and break it down by cities too while we are at it … l.a. welfare ridden, new york .. welfare ridden. chicago … welfare ridden. detroit .. welfare ridden. san francisco .. welfare ridden. etc etc etc … i could keep going here too but i think you see where this is going. so just how the hell do you think there are more red states on welfare than blue? when all the blue population centers are on welfare? show me a red state population center thats over 50% welfare ridden “guest”.

Red States take in more than they pay out to for what reason? The federal funding goes to Nasa, Military installations, and other federal buildings and property within that state. Try again bub, this argument fails.

Why is it Blue States and Blue cities are failing? Want examples? Detroit Michigan, the city of Chicago, the State of California are just some obvious examples. Some of these cities or states haven’t seen a Conservative or Republican for over 60 years, yet they are flat broke.

It may have worked out okay for you Eddie and very possibly because you were able to get a subsidy but it came at the expense of many others who I guarantee you don’t think it’s the best we could have done. I would bet money that you’re a liberal and thus have no problem with hand outs.

          • Eddie Harper

            Feb 22, 2014 at 9:03 am

Subsidy? I neither need nor am getting a subsidy. What I have now, that I didn’t have before, is the LEGAL ABILITY to purchase – WITH MY OWN MONEY – health insurance for my entire family. Period. How the law has affected my family is that the insurance companies can no longer legally disallow us coverage. That doesn’t make me a liberal, or a conservative, or a “stinking thief” as urmir suggested above, or anything past what I am, which is basically…. your neighbor. I’m not even using my state’s web site. I called Aetna directly, which is the plan I currently have through my employer, and will continue on with them once I leave my employer. And that was what I could not do prior.

I am an independent, a former republican. I happily voted for Reagan, who was once my governor. My views changed in 1999 after learning about our pre-existing condition problem. From then on I was very focused on finding someone/anyone who would offer a viable fix. Other than Romney, who was inexcusably excoriated for how he solved the problem in his state, which I applaud him for, no one offered anything that would be of benefit. And still no one from the GOP has.

I’m not a fan of what has become Obamacare, but, this country – all of us – have ourselves to blame. Obama tried to set up, and I favored, a public option. This would have been the ONLY way to offer a lower cost alternative to the major players. Unfortunately, Sen Lieberman, in a final “fuck you” to all of us before leaving office, decided to protect the well being of his state’s insurance players and wouldn’t allow that option to come up for a vote, which left congress scrambling for something else, and there obviously wasn’t much left to work with. He wasn’t the only senator protecting the profits of the insurance industry, but he had initially supported, and spoke highly of, the public option. He is among the most repulsive for what he did to us.

How anyone thinks things will ever get better for us when those we elect care more about protecting the industry is baffling. I know my monthly bill will never get smaller, but at least we’re insured. Everyone seems to be complaining about how much they have to pay. We had a chance to change that, and we threw it away.

            • Ray Wachter

              Feb 22, 2014 at 1:31 pm

Eddie you’ve always had the “legal ability to purchase” health care. Now you may have not liked the price you were quoted and opted to remain “chained” to an employer through insurance, but that was a choice. Obamacare will lead to absolute disaster for our country. When the government is involved in something that equates to roughly 1/6 of our economy and has the IRS as the enforcement mechanism, what can possibly go wrong? In order for you to purchase your insurance, the government MANDATED that all plans had to come with other “benefits” like free birth control, etc. That made virtually every plan in America in existence “non-compliant”. As a result of the non compliance, MILLIONS of people were forcibly dropped from plans that worked for them. That is criminal. And furthermore, if it’s such a great plan why does everyone want to be exempt from it??

              • Eddie Harper

                Feb 22, 2014 at 2:21 pm

No Ray. Insurance companies were legally able to NOT offer insurance for the one member of our family. Just google “what does a pre-existing condition mean” and you’ll learn that it isn’t simply that they charge more, or don’t cover that condition. They could also choose to not cover that person at all. Here’s a link, or find your own:

                http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120625114839AAyeNsQ

Every other civilized country has been able to find a solution. We came up with a lousy one. I never said I loved Obamacare. I initially responded simply to say that there is some good in it, and that in MY family’s case, it helped us. Now it’s time to fix it. Plain and simple.

The problem is that people seem to be in love with the idea that healthcare is a profit center, and that those providing it should be able to profit at will. And they should. But our gov’t should also offer an alternative to counter the result of that business model. It’s not going to get any better otherwise.

                  Feb 22, 2014 at 6:26 pm

Eddie – that was in a select few states http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-existing_condition. But I’ve got to say you’ve won me over a little bit. Your initial post appeared to fit in line with what the government is trying to shove down our throats once again – this whole new “not chained to your job” thingy. It disgusts me to no end that they expect the sheeple to buy their drivel. What makes me even more disheartened is that they do. I understand yours was an individual case, but if you and I can both agree that Obamacare is quite possibly the worse law ever to come down the road that’s progress. But I would agree that there is tweaking that can be done post obamacare so that pre-existing conditions and the like can be covered. There also must be a way via tort reform that the outrageous premiums doctors incur just so they don’t get sued can be fixed as well. Take a look at Tom Price’s plan. He’s on a good track. A lot of Doctor’s are going concierge medicine – and no wonder. Medicare paying $.20 on the dollar is not going to cut it. It will stem the flow of students wanting to become doctors in the first place. And if companies that are innovators cannot re-coup their investments, then innovations will, too, fall by the wayside. It was completely and totally not thought out to its logical conclusion. Just my two cents.

Don’t encourage him. He thinks a single-payer system is the answer, socialized medicine, free for everyone and paid for with our tax dollars. My daughter and her family live in Ireland (she married an Irishman) and their healthcare sucks and so do their taxes. Since the govt. doesn’t have money to pay them, doctors there are opening up their own hospitals and starting insurance plans for patients like our good old American system. My granddaughter is diabetic, waits 3 hours min. for a yearly appt., never sees the same oncologist twice and has been on the waiting list for three years for an insulin pump. The hospitals have ward care with 20 patients to a room, communicable diseases run rampant (they call MRSA the ward clearer) and they have a shortage of nurses, not because there are not enough nurses but they have no money to pay them. The hospitals haven’t been updated in years, no money yet again. You think our ER wait time is bad now? Go sit in an EU one.

Check the congressional record. The GOP’s only plan to deal with pre-existing conditions was to “let the free market work it out”, which is exactly what we already had. There was no specific solution proposed. Obama’s initial goal including doing away with the pre-existing condition problem. That wasn’t the GOP’s goal. If two sides aren’t fighting for the same thing, they’re just fighting each other. We watched it happen. They used us. They’re still using us.

The legislation needed was simple: Insurance companies cannot discriminate against illness or age (newborn or aged) and no caps on coverage. Done. But that would have pissed-off his major donors like the CEO of United Healthcare, one of Obama $500,000 donor club members. The bottom line is money, always has been, not good healthcare.

Wrong. Why do you think Obama keeps delaying the mandate for employers? The latest is now 2016 which is after the election. The majority of employers are going to pay the penalty which is much cheaper than providing it when they are forced to provide it or pay the fine. You should be concerned about the fact that the President is supposed to “ENFORCE” Legislation passed by Congress. Instead Obama is changing the rules on Legislation already passed by Congress which is Unconstitutional. This is just one of his Unconstitutional Unconstitutional actions. Apparently you are just like Stern. You don’t care as long as your pocketbook is not affected by these actions. And people wonder why this Country is in trouble. SAD.

There is a huge difference. Conservatives are very generous by nature and donate to a myriad of worthy causes. Liberals are very generous in donating to ‘any’ cause – using OTHER people’s money derived from forced taxation as a means to redistribute wealth – all while thumping their chest exclaiming how wonderful and tolerant they are regarding social programs. Perhaps it’s “your” comment that is offensive.

The democrats settle for a second rate health care system that doesn’t effect them personally. When all they had to do was pull some payback money to their chorines to pay for the uncovered people. Which by the way got coverage by law at the hospital. The republicans wanted a hand to write the health care bill. Democrats refused their input and stuck us with a bill that will fail. and force the single payer system on us, ( second rate health care, Everything Palin said is coming true. The democratic party gives us a second rate education system. People I give to you the Democratic party. the Party of People Control. The party that needs to eliminate (exterminate) the middle class.

Truth hurts, you are an exception, Democrats give at small levels and small percentages of Income while republicans give at much higher rates, Its been studied by non partisan groups. And when a RICH Democrat gives BIG (i.e. Bill Gates), its always to a foundation (usually one promoting the death culture of agenda 21), which are the biggest scams in the country.

I believe they are politically chauvinistic enough to stand by their party even if it bankrupted them… which it is about to do to ALL of us. It will be interesting – in an academic curiosity kind of way – to see how they respond as a group under such circumstances.

I never really cared for this guy in the past. Then I saw him melt when a little kid, seven year old Mir Money, had his heart broken on “America Has Talent”. I watched as Howard Stern went from egotistical Star, to a real human who cared about others taking the time to comfort Mir Money making sure everything was ok. . That started my slide towards being a Howard Stern fan. Now this… Thank You Mr. Stern.

Democrats are communists and they must be eradicated from DC, our public schools, colleges, universities; healthcare, senior centers, media, TV, movies, city councils – in other words everything they have touched and they HAVE touched EVERYthing.

STERN IS RIGHT! Just look at all the evidence coming out about Barack Hussein Obama.

The Post & Email News: ” One lawful requirement for Barack Hussein Obama to be employed within the executive branch of the Federal government is that he MUST be registered with Selective Service because he said he was born after December 31, 1959.

” Registration is the law. A man who fails to register may, if prosecuted and convicted, face a fine of up to $250,000 and/or a prison term of up to five years. Even if not tried, a man who fails to register with Selective Service before turning age 26 may find that some doors are permanently closed.

FEDERAL JOBS. A man must be registered to be eligible for jobs in the Executive Branch of the Federal government and the U.S. Postal Service. Proof of registration is required only for men born after December 31, 1959.
Some states have added additional penalties for those who fail to register.”
    https://www.sss.gov/FSbenefits.htm

A legal law enforcement Investigation has proven beyond a reasonable doubt, “the higher standard,” that Barack Hussein Obama does not have a valid Selective Service Registration Card. Therefore, he is not lawfully eligible to be employed within the executive branch of the Federal government. Here is the evidence video that was released by the Sheriff’s office: http://youtu.be/CHAM3hRI8_Y

This story is from July 2008 and since that time, Stern supported Obama not once, but twice, as well as plenty of other Dems running for lesser offices.

This is cool and all… but the article should really specify when this took place… July 24, 2008. Five and a half years ago. Not sure why this is being posted as if this just happened. My first clue was mentioning the Sirius/XM merger which took place in 2008. I certainly hope Howard still feels this way. I can’t imagine he could have changed back after 6 years of an actual Communist in the White House…

Did you really write this article as if it is current news? Stern said this several years ago, and since then he has openly supported Obama, Hillary Clinton and other prominent Democrats. He is also a strong supporter of Michael Bloomberg, who, while not a Democrat, is the one of the most liberal politicians I can think of. This is hack journalism.

It takes a direct hit to the brain before a progressive/liberal finally realizes he’s been had. Most progressives/liberals would rather live in shame even after they see the light. Is that being stubborn or are they just too embarrassed to admit they lived in the shadows?

The audio clip was from nearly seven years ago, so why is this blogger writing about this now, especially when Howard has TWICE been a vocal supporter of electing Barack Obama since then? Howard didn’t say he would never vote for a Democrat again. He said he told his agent that, in anger. He was simply relating a conversation he had with Don about his disgust with a couple of Democrats on the FCC panel for holding up the Sirius-XM merger at the time. Out of context, out of date and not understanding that a lot of what the show is about is Howard being real about his feelings in the moment. No idea why this is news, other than “The Minority Report” tag line: “Conservative News & Opinion.” They’re looking to paint a liberal (which they obviously think Howard is) as being so fed up with Dems that he has sworn them off. Fake story that’s even less true today than is was back then. Where are all the clips from 2008 & 2012 of Howard supporting Obama, since then? More “fair & balanced” news from the right wing?

The House is the way it is largely because state level Republicans have gerrymandered their congressional districts to such an extent that virtually every seat in the House is a safe seat, so long as you clear out your opponent in the primary.

Both parties are equal opportunity offenders here in that there are now no more than 20 competitive districts out of 435 total seats.
It may have started with the Democrats, but the very fact that there is almost no way for the Dems to pick up 20 seats in the House due to gerrymandering is proof that the practice has accelerated greatly in the 2000 and 2010 redistricting of the states.

          Thursday, July 24, 2008 10:01 PM
HOWARD STERN Sirius satellite radio host Howard Stern has announced, “I will never vote for a Democrat again.” Stern made his pronouncement after the FCC vote on a Sirius/XM satlellite radio merger fell along party lines.
The three Republican FCC members voted for approving the merger. The three Democrats on the committee voted against it. […]

Love it: “I backed Hillary Clinton, I backed Al Gore, I backed John Kerry.”
Each one made it into the White House with his backing.
    OH RIGHT!
Now he will go against the Democrat — so we know the Republicans are screwed in 2016 … they got Howard Stern behind them. Too bad he didn’t announce this before the book “Death over Life” cam out … it would probably have changed the author’s view of the importance of events in 2015 (and altered his belief in Tea Party power for 2014) .

The Democrats are more like crypto-communists since they are either deceitful about their communist tendencies or are just so stupid they don’t even realize what they are pushing.
